About Reg's Boat - Viking Princess FE137

  • Passengers & crew: 12
  • Category: 2 (2= 60 miles from port)
  • Length: 9.86m
  • Type: Fishing Vessel

The Viking Princess is a fishing trawler, as we are commercial fishermen we fish the Channel all year round; we therefore have a vast knowledge of the English Channel which is of extreme value when escorting swimmers. We have all the latest high-tech navigation equipment, with a cabin below capable of sleeping 10 people, with a kettle, microwave and separate flushing w.c.

We hold all necessary certificates including Coastal Skipper and all Safety Certificates.

We are licensed to carry 12 people or 10 people for any journey over 24 hours; therefore we are one of a small number of pilots who can take multiple crossings.

We have escorted swimmers across the English Channel for more than 40 years having gained our experience from our father who was also a pilot.

We were awarded a place in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in May 2010

The International Marathon Hall of Fames quote was: ‘Their knowledge of Channel elements of weather, water and likely conditions has earned them a place in English Channel history as the most successful team to “Lead the Way” in helping channel crossers succeed. They are usually “right-on” for picking the day and time to start a swim.’

CSA Record Breakers we have escorted include:

  • Fastest Man – 1 way
  • Fastest Lady – 2 ways
  • Fastest Butterfly – 1 way
  • Fastest Backstroke – 1 way
  • Fastest Ladies Relay – 3 ways
  • And many more
