About Our Members

The history of every sport is an essential feature of its growth and development and the history of the Channel Swimming Association shows that it has been at the forefront of the development of open water swimming since its formation in 1927. The early part of the 20th century was a time of great challenge in many sports and a time of great expansion in professionalism in sport. There were large sums of money to be won and everlasting fame to be earned and to swim the English Channel was considered one of the greatest achievements in sport.
