You will obtain the latest channel information on the pilots, fellow swimmers, other members of the association and any up to date changes to regulations. Newsletters will be sent to you via e-mail with regular updates with this latest news.

If you are swimming the channel, then you must become an Associate Member so you are aware of the latest news and regulations within the organization. In your first year of membership you will be an Associate Member.

If you are already an Associate Member, you will be entitled to become a Full Member the following year if you act quickly. The benefit of becoming a Full Member is that it entitles you to full voting rights and enables you to come to the AGM meetings and express your views each year. The AGM is held in Dover Town Hall usually on the first weekend in November. There you can air your views, offer your support to the Association and offer helpful advice on how we can improve this growing sport.

About Our Members

The history of every sport is an essential feature of its growth and development and the history of the Channel Swimming Association shows that it has been at the forefront of the development of open water swimming since its formation in 1927. The early part of the 20th century was a time of great challenge in many sports and a time of great expansion in professionalism in sport. There were large sums of money to be won and everlasting fame to be earned and to swim the English Channel was considered one of the greatest achievements in sport.

The Channel Swimming Association was in the forefront of open water swimming and its members quickly laid down the basic rules for the sport, which have changed little in the last 80 years.

By becoming a member of the Channel Swimming Association you become part of that history and tradition.

An organization that sets the rules, keeps the records, preserves the memories of some of the greatest sporting achievements in history and promotes the ultimate personal achievement.

Membership is open to swimmers and non swimmers alike, our members have come from almost every walk of life from labourers to Lords. Every organisation needs helpers and supporters and if you like open water swimming we look forward to hearing from you.
