Swim season change

Following a meeting between the Channel Swimming Association, Channel Crossing Association, Channel Swimming Pilotage Federation, Channel Swimming & Pilotage Services and Coastguards from France and the UK it has been agreed by all that the swim season will from now on be between 1st April and 31st October each year.

This is first and foremost to protect the safety and welfare of the swimmers and support craft involved. Swims outside of this period will not be accepted on the grounds of safety.

At 07:13 hrs this morning (16/9) James McIntosh became one of the CSA's newest Channel Swimmers when he landed on the sand beach 1.5 miles north east of Wissant - completing his swim in 17 hrs 8 mins (to be ratified).

James was on 'Pathfinder' with pilot Eric Hartley and Observer Keith Oiller and was given great support during his swim by Kate, Ash, Andy and Des.

Congratulations from all at the CSA, on an excellent swim, and from 'Shooting Star Chase' the Children's Hospice that will benefit from James' fine effort.
