It is with sadness that we have learned of the passing of Channel Swimming Association member, Stuart Buffery. A regular competitor in open water events, Stuart swam the Channel in 2000 and was awarded the CSA Van Audenaerde Trophy, 'for the Greatest Feat of Endurance' in 2000 for his swim of 18 hours 43 minutes. He landed at Abbeville, south of Boulogne at midnight, his previous longest swim had been just over 10 hours.
We send his family and friends our deepest condolences.
